Ruhija is located in the Eastern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National park. It has three family groups ie. Bitukura, Oruzogo, Kyaguliro which is situated here purposely for research.
Ruhija is readily accessible with the 16 gorilla permits available every day and more often this research group is trekked.
There is no congestion compared to to other groups like Buhoma, due to the the possession of a few families in Ruhija.
Back Ground of Ruhija:
Well, it is recorded, previously the group was known as "Bitukura". The name originating from the virtue that these giantic gorillas were first spotted around River Bitukura. This group's habituation took only 15 months to habituate because of the calmness and friendliness nature of this family. In many families it took 2 and above years to habituate them.
