Mgahing boasts of its 3,474 meters height. It is among the famous virunga ranges and has a wide variety of wildlife.

The features include; vegetation consisting afro-montane, bamboo being the main and harboring different species of animals like the endangered golden monkey

The name Mgahinga was got from the word ‘Gahinga’ that means the piles of stones in the local lingo.  It lies between the mountains Muhavura and Sabinyo.

It has a swampy caldera on its peak that is about 180metres wide.  It takes about 6hours to climb the mountain
